Mary Ann Halpin is a renowned Los Angeles photographer. She has received acclaim for revealing everything from the glamorous beauty of Hollywood and the exquisite glow of pregnancy, to the heartbreaking despair of Skid Row. Her latest book  Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits, features celebrities such as Joni Mitchell, Cybill Shepherd, Erin Brokovitch, Joan Lunden and many other extraordinary women. The book contains compelling black and white portraits and the prolific works of these women who have dared to approach aging with passion and fearlessness.

Mary Ann also passionately focuses her lens on women’s issues. Her first book, Pregnant Goddesshood: A Celebration of Life, Mary Ann garnered national attention for her book’s powerful images. Controversial at the time, it portrayed pregnant women as radiant and beautiful, and encouraged women to embrace and celebrate their pregnant bodies with a commemorative portrait. This portrait book blazed the trail and inspired photographers to create maternity portraits that are so popular with expectant moms today. Images from Pregnant Goddesshood have been featured in LIFE Magazine.  Mary Ann has appeared on television shows such as The View, Inside Edition, Extra!, and A Baby Story where the book sparked heated national discussion. As a leader in her field, Mary Ann has been featured on the hit reality show Starting Over where she can be seen generously mentoring a young photographer on the series.

Continuing with the Fearless  theme, Mary Ann Halpin was a speaker on the Fearless Women Panel at eWomenNetwork International Business Convention, Dallas, July, 2008. This will be the fourth year she has been asked back to the conference to photograph Fearless Portraits for the women attending tthis remarkable gathering of women from all over the world.
With her popularity rising in the portrait world, Mary Ann has been asked to speak at the PPA Texas Convention in Dallas in September 2009.

Having photographed hundreds of women at the eWomenNetwork Conference, Mary Ann created her third book, Fearless Women~Fearless Wisdom, released the summer of 2010. The celebration of the release was commemorated by a Fearless Women Day on August 26, 2010, the 90th anniversary of the 19th amendment being ratified to give women the right to vote. Fearless Women Day was celebrated all over the US and Canada in 15 citites.

Mary Ann’s latest Book, an Amazon Bestseller, Fearless Women, Visions of a New World, features 50 fearless visionary women from around the world. Through their stories of inspiration, they gift us their fearless journey to heal the planet. They give us hope for the beautiful world that we have and the best of what is about to come. In part, the inspiration for Mary Ann’s new book came from the Dalai Lama. As he proclaimed at the Vancouver Peace Summit in 2009, “The world will be saved by the western woman.” This book is dedicated to that notion. Our Story

"I became a professional photographer in 1985 when I was a striving actress, singer, dancer. I met a photographer who took my headshots and we became friends. I learned from her and fell in love with the art of the camera. I found that I had a talent for photographing actors. It was a natural progression as I know what it was like to be in front of the camera and how I wanted to be photographed. So that's how I work with my actors, making it comfortable, fun and ultimately capturing their essence in the photograph.

My passion is photographing people, all kinds, actors, glamor, pregnant women, babies, children, families and furry little friends. I just love the interaction and I love telling a story.

I play music and dance while I shoot. It's what I love to do and am so grateful for a camera falling into my hands. For over 25 years I have joyously photographed everyone from celebrities to newborns and feel blessed and honored to have that opportunity. I believe we need to celebrate our life as art, live in love and connect with family. Having a family portrait on the wall is like having a group hug every day. When I photograph you, you and your family become part of mine. That's the way I roll...."
